Django grew up in this world of contradictions, one foot in the bustling big city of Paris and the other in the age-old life of the nomadic gypsy.
He tried to write a Mass for the Gypsies and a symphony he worked with an assistant to notate what he was improvising. Jeff Beck described Reinhardt as "by far the most astonishing guitar player ever" and "quite superhuman".
I chose his style because it spoke to me. He used the volume and expressiveness of the instrument as integral elements of his style.
